Tulum.
The second day we chartered a ‘colectivo’, a van that stops along the highway to pick up people shuttling between the different towns of the Mayan Riviera. I think we paid about $5 to journey from PDC to Tulum which is incredible, although official taxis are reasonable themselves. Tulum blew my mind. Prior to seeing Tulum, I think Positano or a beach somewhere in Ibiza might have been the most beautiful coastline I had ever seen. Tulum made me question everything I thought was true. The sand was blindingly white. The water, a perfect blue. Beautiful jungle and Mayan structures all over. It is truly a marvel. I had never seen anything like it. We toured some of the ancient Mayan ruins, hung out on the beach, then had dinner at one of Pablo Escobar’s former mansions. It was incredible. The highlight of my Mexico trip.
